Now, about that afore-mentioned music trivia program… for approximately two hours (can be longer or shorter), I entertain your group with name that tune, artist trivia (what is the real name of Chubby Checker, or what was the first name of the 60’s duo Simon & Garfunkel, or what was the name of the Billboard Hot 100 hit recorded by the late David Soul of Starsky & Hutch fame) And more fun musical questions from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, television and radio. This highly interactive, team competition includes prizes for the winning experts. Lots O’ fun to be had for sure…

what about bob
As it turns out the Goddess of Entertainment was riding astride Bob Marx all along…he was meant to be in the entertainment business so MUSICbyMARX is the successful culmination of his musical background…
Bob began his journey into what evolved into his DJ business back in college at Bowling Green State University, where he received a minor in Broadcasting. Bob worked at the BGSU radio station, WBGU, from midnight till 6am spinning records (remember those…) from the 50’s and 60’s. Somehow he did manage to wake up and get to a few of those nasty eight o’clock classes…
In addition to his on-air shift at WBGU he took on the role of Social Chairman for Beta Theta Pi fraternity and used his collection of those afore-mentioned records to entertain the members and their sorority guests. Needless to say Bob became the default juke box for the fraternity. Side note: he still has many of those same records to this day.
Upon graduation from BGSU Bob quickly realized that being a Disc Jockey was not the best path to financial security and instead established a long and successful career in the hospitality/tourism industry working for Marriott, Sheraton, American Airlines among others.
In his 50’s Bob returned to the radio business working as News Director for WGAD oldies station in Gadsden, Alabama – in addition to his duties as GM of a local Marriott hotel. Bob grew his knowledge of oldies music working alongside some of the area’s finest DJ’s.
Continuing in his hospitality career for several more years the needs of a friend brought him to The Villages where he discovered the local radio station WVLG AM640. The music spark re-ignited, he called up the station GM to introduce himself and lo and behold got hired as a DJ once again spinning the oldies. That auspicious beginning turned into a nine year gig at WVLG as the station entered the FM/streaming world. Bob also took over the “On the Go” reporting for WVLG conducting hundreds of live interviews at numerous activities and events throughout The Villages and surrounding area.
That experience brought about MUSICbyMARX a full-service, professional DJ business specializing in creating fun times for client events, weddings, anniversaries and social gatherings.
